cartoon reference

Some (other people's) work, as an example of the style I'd like to attempt. Keep in mind these are semi-professional, or group projects by a team of animators at the very least, and are thus FAR more polished than what I will be able to finish for this class...but they do represent the flattish, stylised appearance I would love to achieve.

For the 2d portion, I really like this sketchy-yet-smooth style of animation used here:

And for the 3d, I love how these artists incorporate the 3d objects into a flat world, through the very stylised, drawn/artsy textures. It's a very different look from the usual photo or quasi-realistic approach that I've seen. (Both videos by teams from Supinfocom)
